Urbanization of life, hypokinesia, negative socially determined phenomena (unbalanced nutrition, alcoholism, etc.) are the causes of the growth of diseases of the digestive system, which are one of the most common causes of disability and disability.
Among diseases of the digestive system, inflammatory diseases of the intestine are excreted, accompanied by nonspecific immune inflammation of its walls. To this group of diseases include nonspecific ulcerative colitis (NEC)
NEC: concept, symptoms, causes of occurrence
Nonspecific ulcerative colitis is a chronic autoimmune disease accompanied by progressive inflammatory-necrotic lesions of the mucous membrane and the mucous membrane of the colon. When VVC is formed hemorrhages, ulcers and purulent education of varying degrees.
The leading symptom of NSC is bleeding. Also among clinical manifestations in the period of exacerbation of the disease - abdominal pain, diarrhea with admixture of blood and mucus, tenesmus.
The etiology of the NEC is poorly investigated. Possible causes include dysbiosis, intestinal infection, stress, irrational nutrition, and the like.
Nonspecific ulcerative colitis can cause paraproctitis, anal fissures, intestinal bleeding, peritonitis, and the like.
Treatment of nonspecific ulcerative colitis
When detecting external signs of nonspecific ulcerative colitis, you should immediately undergo a survey. You can contact the Proctology Department of the Kyiv Regional Clinical Hospital (the site of the clinic proctolog.ua), where a team of specialists works using the latest equipment and modern treatment methods.
Typically, several methods complement each other to confirm the diagnosis: they perform an examination of the anus and abdomen, conduct a digital examination of the rectum, recto-monoscopy, irrigoscopy, and fibrocolonoscopy.
Given the fact that the etiology of NSC is not well-known, the treatment of this disease is aimed at reducing the intensity of inflammation, eliminating clinical symptoms and minimizing the possibility of complications.
NEC treatment methods
Depending on the degree of severity of NSC, treatment of nonspecific ulcerative colitis can be performed in two forms - treatment with medications (conservative therapy) and surgical intervention.
Medications give good results with careful and long-lasting treatment. If conservative therapy does not help and the disease progresses, surgical intervention is prescribed.
When surgical intervention is required
Among the indications for the operation are:
- Perforation of the ulcers of the large intestine;
- Suspicion of process multiplication;
- Pronounced dysplastic changes in some dioptates taken from different parts of the large intestine;
- Severe bleeding and so on.
There are three types of operations:
- Palliative (performed if the intestine is affected by less than 50%, and the inflammation is localized in its various parts);
- Radical (if the intestine is severely inflamed, resection of individual segments with subsequent restoration of integrity is carried out);
- Reconstructive (removal of the intestine and installing a prosthesis).
Dietary nutrition at NEC
The organization of medical nutrition for patients with mild form of nonspecific ulcerative colitis does not imply any significant restrictions on food. In the case of NECs, the so-called "Table 4" diet is prescribed. From the diet, acute foods that irritate the intestine, as well as whole milk, fatty and salty foods, and alcohol are removed.
The daily ration should include 110-120 g protein, 50-60 g fat, 250 g carbohydrates with maximum fiber confinement. It is recommended to use boiled meat, fish, buckwheat and oatmeal, walnut kernels. You can drink hard coffee and tea, while consuming vegetables, fruits and sweets.
