Pancreatic cysts

What You Need To Know About Pancreatic Cysts (Health And Medical Video July 2018).

The pathological basis of the pancreatic cyst may be any one.

Pancreatic cysts are limited capsules of fluid accumulation in the form of different volumes of cavities, which can be located both in the gland itself and surrounding tissues. This disease occurs in different age groups in both men and women.

Types of pancreatic cysts

Congenital cysts are formed as a result of malformations of the duct system of the pancreas and its tissues.

Acquired cysts of the pancreas are divided into:

  • Retention, which are formed as a result of the stricture of the excretory ducts of the pancreas, the closure of their lumen by stones, tumors;
  • Degenerative, formed as a result of damage to the tissue of the gland itself, which occurs in traumas, hemorrhages, tumor processes;
  • Proliferating cysts (cystadenoma, cystic carcinoma);
  • Parasitic cysts (echinococcus, cysticercus).

It is necessary to distinguish between true and false cysts of the pancreas, depending on the cause of their formation, especially the structure of its walls.

Real cyst

The true cysts of the pancreas include: congenital cysts, acquired retention cysts, cystadenoma (cysticenterocarcinomas). A distinctive feature of this type of cyst is the presence of epithelial lining of the inner surface of the pancreas.

They make up 20% of all types of cysts of the gland. True cysts, unlike erroneous cysts, usually do not reach the large size and are often a casual discovery in operations.

False cyst

False cyst is formed after acute destructive pancreatitis or as a result of pancreatic injury, which was accompanied by necrosis of the gland tissue, the destruction of the walls of its duct, the release of pancreatic juice outside the gland.

The walls of this cyst compacted with fibrous tissue, inside have no epithelial lining, the cavity is filled with a liquid, the nature of which may be different in composition and volume. The liquid content of the false cyst is a serous or purulent exudate with an admixture of blood and clots.

False cyst, as a rule, reaches large sizes and spreads in different directions, pushing the liver up, and the stomach - down. If the distribution of the cyst is directed toward the gastrointestinal ligament, the stomach is pushed upward, and the transverse colon is down.

Manifestation and treatment

Most often pancreatic cysts, which reach small sizes, proceed completely asymptomatic.

The first symptoms of the disease are manifested when the cyst reaches large sizes and causes compression, displacement of adjacent organs.

When small cysts are placed in the head of the pancreas, transdouodinal tsistoduodenostomy is used to create anastomosis between the duodenum and cyst. At cysts that reach gigantic sizes, an overlay of anastomosis between the cyst and the loop of the small intestine is shown.

Treatment of pancreatic cysts should only be surgical. When pseudocysts are used different drainage operations.
