A new theory about the property and purpose of dreams was put forward by Californian scholars. There are strong theories about what our dreams show us. Some, for example, say that dreams are random images reproduced by the brain in the process of processing previously received information.
Others suggest that in this way our consciousness learns to adapt to the dangers of the outside world. Writers of dreamers and forerunners insist that the dream is a secret signal, deciphering which one can know its future.
And the most famous and popular theories belong to Freud and Jung and relate to the manifestation of our sexual and other secret desires. Proponents of such ideas believe that sleep is a way of human subconsciousness to break out and show what we lack, worries that we have forgotten to do, etc.
But, in general, forgetting about the diversity of "sleepy" theories, researchers in this topic can be divided into two camps - those who try to determine the destination of dreams and those who believe that such a purpose is simply not.
The latter include the authors of one of the latest work in this area - the staff of the University of California. According to their theory, dreams are an elementary reflection of what we have seen or experienced on the eve of, and therefore, no particular significance is needed to give a dream.
- The fact that we remember our dreams is very vague, says in favor that they do not carry any function. After all, if they were so important, why do we forget them? - Transmits Times Online the words of Dr. Bill Dhamohoff, who participated in the study of the University of California. - In general, mental processes in one way or another are a way of adapting a person to life, but this does not mean that any manifestation of consciousness has its purpose. Our research suggests that sleep is something like the brain's brain, a set of random images reproduced so that during the rest of the consciousness was at least something occupied.
Another stereotype, broken down by the Californian scholarship, are the most common themes of dreams, which still considered sex and religion. Having studied the dreams of 22,000 people of all ages and occupations, American doctors have come to the following conclusion: much more often, we will be shooting the most common habits and situations - shopping, meeting with parents and friends, car riding, sports, travel, games, food, and so on.
At the same time, dreams associated with sex make up a meagerly small proportion of the total - 2% for men and 0.4% for women. In 54% of the cases surveyed by researchers, people saw friends, 24% - parents, 24.5% of the dreams were devoted to driving a car, 17% people saw themselves walking on the street, 13.7% - for food consumption, 6.1% - for sports.
It turns out that our dreams are not at all a world of fairy tales that are not predictions of the future and no connection with the dead. The vast majority of people see their daily problems in their sleep, that is, they remain at night in the same routine, which are in the daytime. This is confirmed by other studies in this area. For example, French sociologists found that musicians dream of dreams twice as much as people of other professions. And their colleagues from America have shown that the percentage of women who see dreams about work has increased proportionately with the increase in the number of women working.
