Types of acne
The main types of acne:
- Comedones (microcomedones, open and closed);
The presence of the skin mikrokomedonov not necessarily indicate disease, since minor severity they are within the physiological norm. With the development of acne mikrokomedony transformed into closed comedones - small seal filled with white liquid that can be lighter color.
The production of sebum leads to the transformation of closed comedones into open, also known as blackheads or black dots. By origin, they represent gland-corneus plugs formed in the mouths of hair follicles. They can be identified in black and with a small seal directly below the point, while its value usually does not exceed 1 mm.
Progressing inflammatory process leads to the formation of papular acne - inflammatory nodules of bluish-red or pink color.
Pustules contain a whitish-purulent fluid and rises above the skin, redness may appear around them. In most cases, at this stage, the process did not have time to touch the epidermis, so after treatment no scars are formed.
Finally, the further development of acne leads to the formation of large nodules of bluish-pink color, whose diameter may exceed 5 mm.
Degree of acne
There are four degrees of acne: light (first), secondary (second) and heavy (third and fourth) degrees.
The mild form is characterized by the presence of comedones (open or closed) and papules. The number of these formations should not exceed 10. For the second degree of the disease, the number of comedones can be increased to 25, as well as papules, there are abscesses (pustules).
In the acne of the third degree on the skin there are up to 50 comedones, from 21 to 30 papules and pustules, large nodes are formed (about 5).
Finally, in the event of further increase of these formations, the disease flows into the fourth degree. On the skin there are abscesses, strong inflammation develops.
In rare cases, with the normal course of an acne, on its background develops a more severe form, accompanied by the appearance of lightning acne in the form of papules or pustules, rarely - nodes or cystic cavities filled with manure. Lightweight acne appear on the body without affecting the skin of the face.
Diagnosis of acne is done using a series of tests, including clinical, psychological and metric tests. But complete diagnosis is possible only with the participation of a doctor-dermatologist.
