Squamous skin cancer

Understanding Squamous Cell Carcinoma (Skin Cancer #5) (Health And Medical Video April 2018).

Squamous cell carcinoma develops from the spiky layer of the epidermis, it occurs less frequently than basalemia.

As a rule, the basis of the development of malignant transformation of skin cells is the traumatism of the epidermis, for example due to prolonged exposure to sunlight or a visit to the solarium. Also, this type of cancer can develop in the scar tissue due to traumatic injury, chemical, radiation (after radiotherapy) or thermal burn, with long-lasting dermatitis of various nature, pigmented xeroderma and other factors.

Sometimes squamous cell carcinoma is a human papillomavirus, combined with other factors, immune disorder, and also against the backdrop of genetic predisposition.

The main forms of squamous skin cancer:

  • Non-cancerous cancer, which is characterized by high malignancy;
  • Keratinous cancer with less malignant growth.

Manifestations of squamous cell carcinoma of the skin

Often, this type of cancer is found on the red border of the lips, around the anus and on the skin of the external genitalia. Patients are concerned about an ulcer or tumor (in the form of a plaque or a node), rapidly growing on the skin, gradually deepening and accompanied by pain due to inflammatory changes.

The ulcer has a crateral form due to raised edges with uneven bottom and is constantly allocated by an exudate with an unpleasant odor. The plaque in the form of a plaque is small-bugrous, uneven and bleeding, and the cancerous node is a kind of cauliflower of a bright red or brown tint, but a dense consistency.

If the tumor develops on the scar, then it is dense, with areas of ulcers, rapidly growing.

Metastasis of squamous cell carcinoma

The most commonly affected regional lymph nodes (inguinal, axillary, and others), they are enlarged, but painless, eventually they are covered with ulcers, inflamed, rally with surrounding tissues, become painful.

Diagnosis of cancer is performed on the basis of cytological data from scratching from the surface of the cancer, as well as from lymph nodes affected by the tumor process.

Treatment for squamous cell carcinoma

The method of treatment is chosen taking into account the stage of the disease, the localization and prevalence of the process, the presence of metastases, as well as the age of the patient and his health.

Removal of tumor within healthy tissues is carried out by cryodestruction (cold destruction), surgical treatment, laser therapy, radiotherapy, local or general chemotherapy, electrocoagulation, etc. Combined treatments for timely diagnosis of tumors give a high percentage of recovery. At relapses more often spend radiotherapy, chemo-surgical therapy.

Even with successful treatment, patients are permanently on dispensary records.
